Whether you’ve got a classic car, or simply wish to see neighbors out and about this evening, a Scoop the Loop in Panora will be held for a special cause.
Retro LUX Hair Salon & Boutique Owner Kellie Flanery is hosting the “Scoop the Loop: Cruise for a Cause Food Drive” from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in downtown Panora. Participants driving up and down Highway 44 are encouraged to stop behind the Veteran’s Auditorium and Community Center on the northside of the square, where volunteers will be accepting nonperishable food items to go to the Panora Food Bank located at the Community Center.
Flanery shares how she wanted to organize an event to support residents, “Tom Bacon is in charge of the food pantry in Panora and he was pretty excited, because last month he serviced 135 families in the Panora area. So we both kind of thought that with everybody being unemployed and all that stuff there could possibly be quite a few more families next month and over the next few months. So we think that it would really help out our community and it’s a nice event that everybody can get involved in.”
Those who don’t attend Scoop the Loop can still drop off food items at Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts and Fashion’s on 44 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today.
