The Perry Pride Business Booster local gift card stimulus program has been giving financial incentives to both local business and patrons since the end of April, and it was announced this week that it will continue through the end of June.
Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says the program has been a success so far, but there’s still plenty of money left from the $100,000 grant provided by the City, so they elected to keep it going. “We initially set out for at least five weeks, knowing that we had significant funding and that would give us time to really present it as an option for businesses as well as purchasers. And now we have been able to determine that we can extend the program for another five weeks. But it’s been going very well. We have sold a lot of gift cards and we’ve written a lot of checks to businesses. So the overall goal was to have a local economic stimulus, and we feel really good about the overall result.”
The program involves paying $20 for a $30 gift card to local businesses, with the extra $10 covered by the City’s grant. Pasutti feels it’s a win-win for everyone, with shoppers getting extra bang for their buck and the businesses getting the whole amount to help them through this difficult time.
