While hundred of student athletes were robbed of their spring sports season, track and field fans around the Guthrie County area will particularly miss a set of Panorama runners who were set for a breakout season.

A couple of the strongest events for the Panorama girls track and field team last year came in the 4×4 and 4×8 relays. Each qualified for the state tournament and set school records in the process. The 4×4 relay that ran in the state championship meet consisted of Bailey Beckman, Lydia Lindstrom, and Gwen and Olivia Steffan and the 4×8 relay looked almost identical except for Peyton Beckman ran instead of Bailey.

Of the eight slots between the two relays, the Panthers only had to worry about replacing one runner for Bailey Beckman who graduated as Lindstrom, Peyton Beckman, and the Steffan twins were all underclassmen. Both events, and more of this track and field team were not only set up to compete for a spot on the podium in Des Moines, but with the help of 2019 At-Large Class 2A Coach of the Year Greg Thompson, they were set to compete for the gold.

Luckily, a good core of athletes for Panorama will be back and compete for championships next season. Two seniors in Lydia Lindstrom and Abbi Brown had their Panther career short.
