A housing development owner in Perry recently partnered with a local restaurant to perform an act of goodwill for their residents in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kading Property Management, which owns 88 townhouse units off Iowa Street near Highway 141, announced they would be purchasing 40 meals total for the families occupying the residences. They have coordinated with the owners of Tin Pig Tavern in Perry to provide the free food, which is being distributed this week. Kading CEO Karie Ramsey said Perry has been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus outbreak, and she felt even a small act like buying dinner can help people on the road to economic recovery.

The act was met by praise from Perry City officials, including Mayor John Andorf who said the dual act of feeding residents and supporting a local business should help raise the spirits of the community at large. Kading owns property in 18 central Iowa communities, including Adel, Stuart, and Winterset, and has done similar programs elsewhere during the pandemic. They have reported investing nearly $10,000 over the past two months. Ramsey said they were happy to be in the position to offer this kind of support to the communities, and she encouraged others to follow their example.
