Following the new proclamation from Governor Kim Reynolds allowing swimming pools to be open again, the Jefferson Municipal Pool has plans in place to open.

Jefferson Pool Manager Simeon Lang says the pool will open for the season on Saturday, June 6th, but with restrictions. The pool will only be open for lap swim and swim lessons daily from 11:30am-6:30pm. Lap swimmers will have one hour and are limited to one person per lane if someone is waiting to swim, otherwise there will not be a time limit. Lang talks about having to limit the ages of individuals entering the facility.

“It will be limited as far as the lap swimming goes, because we’re asking individuals to be, I guess, on their own. We will be following the guidelines that we’ve kind of set up at the rec center. So you do need to be 14 to visit the facility on your own. I guess younger children will have the opportunity to do lessons. But it is not going to be just free time as we’re maybe used to (for) most summers.”

Lang notes they have sufficient staff to handle daily operations and no family passes will be offered at this time. There are lap swim passes available, as well as a daily fee. Anyone who wishes to schedule a lesson time can do so by contacting the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson at 515-386-3412.
