Friday, May 22nd

9:17am: An officer assisted A-1 Service by sending out an Abandoned Vehicle Notice to the owner of a towed vehicle.

10:37am: Officers removed (2) snakes from the residence at 907 North Wilson Ave.

3:35pm: A caller advised of a Careless Driver on 220 th street, near Grimmell Road. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

3:40pm: Christy Smithson reported a male came to her residence at 1006 East Lincoln Way Street and inquired about buying some junk cars sitting on the property. She later discovered the male had take (2) catalytic convertors off of the vehicles while claiming to check for rust underneath them on the frames. The officer later located the reported subject’s van and spoke to him. He denied taking the convertors when asked by the officer. The investigation continues.

3:58pm: A caller reported a German Shepherd had jumped over its fence and bit her 4-year-old son. The officer arrived and met with the animal’s owner and the caller. The subjects were walking past 308 North Pinet Street on the sidewalk when the animal jumped the fence and attacked the youngster. According to City Animal Ordinances, the animal was placed in a 10 Day Quarantine at the Jefferson Vet Clinic. The animal will have to leave the city after the quarantine as ordinances deem the animal “Illegal” after the bite. Junior Lopez of Jefferson was also cited for, “Animal at Large Prohibited.”

5:14pm: Rick Buring reported a careless Driver on 220 th Street approaching Jefferson from the east. The officer did not locate the vehicle.

8:29pm: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 1209 North Elm Street. Employee error was to blame, and all was fine at the business.

11:47pm: The Sheriff’s Officer requested assistance from a Jefferson officer with a large Underage Drinking Party in Rippey. the S.O. arrested several underage drinkers and transferred them to the LEC.

Saturday, May 23rd

5:03am: Jean Braden requested an officer at 300 South Grimmell Road for scratching noises in her bedroom. The officer did not locate anything inside the residence and suggested she call an exterminator.

7:09am: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of West Lincoln Way resulted in Derek Ott of Ft. Dodge being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

1:22pm: A Traffic Stop at Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Robert Fisher of Sigourney being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

3:35pm: The Peony reported someone had stepped into freshly poured concrete at 101 East Lincoln Way Street. The unknown subject had removed a heavy metal weight used to hold the door open. The damage estimate to replace the concrete is $500.00. The officer is working to review any camera footage available from the event.

Sunday, May 24th

8:49am: An officer spoke to a walking female in the 1300 Block of Westwood Drive. She advised she had just left her boyfriend’s apartment after an argument and did not need assistance.

11:38am: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of North Elm Street resulted in William Funcke of Jamaica being cited for, “Dark Windows.”

12:33pm: People’s Bank reported a bike hanging in their tree at 116 West State Street. The officer placed the bike in Impound.

3:57pm: Katherine Ward spoke to an officer about a Civil Issue occurring at 108 East Central Ave. #66 with a family member.

11:55pm: An officer located an Unsecured Unit at 1503 North Elm Street. After finding the unit empty the officer closed the overhead door.

8:03pm: Jeannie Beecher reported Loud Music at 1000 West Adams Street. The officer drove through the area and did not hear anything.

8:19pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 200 Block of West Adams Street.

Monday, May 25th

12:28am: A caller advised of Loud Music at 1216 Westwood Drive. The officer spoke to a resident, who turned down his music.

10:34am: A Traffic Stop at Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Joseph Goebel of Coon Rapids being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

4:51pm: An Iowa State Trooper requested assistance from an officer with a Careless Driver on 220th Street, heading east into Jefferson. The officer located the vehicle, but no infractions were witnessed.

8:30pm: David Stone reported he gave a transient male a ride from the Ogden area and dropped him off at the Redwood in Jefferson. The officer did not locate the subject.
