A Jefferson man was recently sentenced to probation for a forgery incident.
According to court documents, 26-year-old Dakota Bishop pled guilty to a Class D Felony for forgery. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years.
The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department. Officers executed a search warrant at Bishop’s residence on January 24th, following a call from the victim that said they received $1,000 in fake $100 bills that Bishop used to pay back a loan the victim previously provided him.
Bishop was also ordered to pay over $1,500 in surcharges, court costs, and victim restitution.
