As a reminder, those in need of food assistance in the Perry area are invited to take advantage of an emergency mobile food pantry this afternoon. Additionally, there was something else added to the menu thanks to a local manufacturer.

Tyson Foods, Inc. has donated over 1,900 boxes of chicken for today’s event. The chicken will be distributed starting at 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Perry Elks Lodge. Community members wanting to receive the free chicken can line up facing north on 18th Street to enter the Elks lot, and will exit onto Willis Avenue. The remainder of the food will be distributed starting at 5 p.m. today in the north parking lot of Dallas County Hospital and Family Medicine Clinics in Perry. At both locations, participants will stay in the vehicles while volunteers place the items in their trunks. Everything will be first-come, first-served, with no cost or questions asked.

Those who can’t make it to today’s emergency mobile food pantry can visit the second stop at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Raccoon Valley Bank in Adel. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be on hand for both events. We will broadcast live, play music, and provide public address services.
