The medical personnel who serve on the “front line” of saving people’s lives are celebrated during National EMS Week.

Stuart Rescue’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed, as the paid and volunteer staffs’ families came together to decorate their living quarters at the fire station, provided care packages, and more this week. Stuart Rescue Director Sean Bovinett said this was especially appreciated during the unprecedented COVID-19 situation they’ve been dealt with, as one part-time staff member contracted the virus two weeks ago. Bovinett says they are well equipped to handle COVID-19, “I’ve been asked by several people if we need masks and things like that and luckily we had a good stockpile so at this point we haven’t needed those. So I’ve kind of directed them to the hospitals and the clinics who are at a much greater need for those things. So I do appreciate those people that have offered that to us.”

Panora EMS Director Joe Hupp also wishes his staff and those in other communities a happy EMS Week, and he encourages residents to thank an EMS staff member when they see one.
