Two high school seniors in Greene County were recently recognized for their academic achievements.

Kassie Lamoureux from Greene County and Kaleb Fisher from Paton-Churdan were selected to receive the Governor’s Scholar award as the top academic achievers in their respective high schools. They joined 423 other high schoolers who will receive a plaque and a certificate from the governor. The ceremony was cancelled to due COVID-19 restrictions, but Lamoureux tells Raccoon Valley Radio how it felt to receive such an honor.

“I am extremely thankful to be nominated for this award. I was really looking forward to the ceremony, which was supposed to take place at the end of April. But even though it was cancelled, I’m still thankful to be recognized for all of my hard work throughout high school.”

Lamoureux was involved in basketball, cross country, National Honor Society, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Club, Interact, Student Council, 4H, Spanish Quiz Bowl, Science Bowl, speech, and band/jazz band/ instrumental section for jazz choir.
