The Panora City Council approved several items at their recent meeting to move forward on their grant application for owner-occupied home renovations.

After no comments were made during a public hearing on the City applying for Community Development Block Grant funds, the Council approved technical and administrative services contracts with Region XII Council of Governments contingent upon grant award. The contract included a $4,500 fee per project for technical services, which would be covered by the grant funds. Region XII Housing Programs Coordinator Karla Janning informed the Council there are four low-income families that successfully applied for the program who would receive up to $24,999 for exterior home improvements such as a lead paint removal.

The Council also approved other policy resolutions required to apply for the grant, they set May 26th as the public hearing date for their fiscal year 2020 budget amendment, approved a memorandum of understanding for dam mitigation with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and tabled action on the first reading of an ordinance amending park regulations related to camping at Water Works Park.
