The second quarter meeting of the 100+ People for Perry scheduled for Monday, May 18th has been cancelled.

The organizers of the group made the decision in response to the ongoing concerns of social distancing and avoiding large gatherings related to the COVID-19 outbreak in Dallas County. Instead, they are encouraging their members to donate $100 to a nonprofit organization of their choice that impacts the Perry community. Group leader Tom Lipovac also welcomes suggestions for the donations. Members have since proposed the Perry Area Food Pantry and the local elder care facilities, each of which have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Lipovac said he hopes the group can meet for the third quarter meeting, which is scheduled for August 24th in the Cellar of La Poste. He added, it’s possible they could also do a virtual meeting on that occasion. The goal of 100+ People for Perry is to support the community by making four large donations a year to a nonprofit project operating in the City. Since forming in 2016, they have pledged $118,000 to 17 projects.
