It’s been a few months since the bike shop in Perry closed its doors, but tomorrow it will reopen with a new name and owner.
Michael Jungck purchased the former Raccoon River Valley Bicycle Company from Lee Coons in late February, and has rechristened it Michael’s Cyclery. Jungck worked at a bike shop in Cedar Falls for nine years, in addition to being a middle school teacher for 15 years. He returns to Perry where he was born and graduated from high school, bringing with him his passion and knowledge for cycling. After months of work in adapting the space to his needs and bringing in stock, Jungck and his family are ready to welcome the public Friday afternoon.
The grand opening will begin at 3 p.m. and the Perry community is invited to check the shop out. However, attendees are asked to abide by social distancing recommendations and face masks are suggested. The hours for Michael’s Cyclery will be Tuesday-Friday from 3-7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon – 5 p.m. The shop will be closed Mondays. They will offer new bikes, parts, and accessories, cycle repair, and custom bike builds, as well as a hospitality station with water and snacks.
