The deadline to pay property taxes in Iowa has been extended once again.

Governor Kim Reynolds recently announced the new deadline for property tax payments to be made without penalty is Wednesday, May 27th. Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen says checks that will be mailed must be postmarked by May 27th to not incur a penalty, or dropped in the drop box on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson by 8am on May 28th, as the courthouse continues to be closed to the public.

Mechaelsen urges anyone who has not paid their property tax installment for March to pay them online by going to iowatreasurers.org. Governor Reynolds extended the previous deadline from last month due to COVID-19 concerns.
