The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council approved a $150,000, ten-year forgivable loan to Sebolt Wrestling Academy to make additional renovations to the recently purchased Jefferson Fieldhouse by using tax increment financing (TIF) funds through the City’s Urban Renewal Plan. The Council also approved funding $70,000 through hotel/motel tax and the City’s general fund for the Jefferson Area Chamber and Jefferson Matters: Main Street combined full-time position. Additionally, the Council awarded the contract to Westbrook Construction Company of $217,000 for a roof project at 100 East State Street, awarding a contract to Caliber Concrete of Adair for $946,584 for four walking path trail projects that will utilize previously approved bonds, and awarding a contract to Concrete Technologies for the airport runway extension project following a public hearing on the topic. 

The Council also approved changes to the 28E agreement with Greene County on the current animal shelter, following previous approval from the County to increase their contribution from $1,500 to $6,000 per year. The Council continued discussion from the cat committee, which is leaning toward some type of a Trap-Neuter-Return program. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has temporarily stopped progress at this time. Finally, the Council further discussed video recording of Council meetings. Mayor Matt Gordon said he collected several more cost estimates, but Sebourn Video Services was one of the lowest for $240 per month and the City will use cameras from TechZone in Jefferson on a trial basis. No formal action was taken by the Council following the discussion.
