The first COVID-19-associated death in Guthrie County and an additional death in Dallas County have been confirmed Tuesday.
Guthrie County Public Health announced the individual was an elderly adult aged 81 years or older and a resident of the County. Public Health Director Jotham Arber says his department wants to extend their deepest condolences to the individual’s family, and that they along with other partners continue to work to limit the spread and impact of COVID-19 in the County. Guthrie County has a total of 36 confirmed cases, with 16 that have recovered. According to the state dashboard, Dallas County has seven deaths, with 11 more positive cases for a total of 712 Tuesday. Of them 301 have recovered. Greene County remains at 13 positive cases, with eight that have recovered, and no reported deaths.
Statewide, there were an additional 18 deaths confirmed for a total of 289 Tuesday. Iowa also has 539 additional positive cases for a total of 12,912, with 5,618 that have recovered. Guthrie County Public Health says all residents should consider the use of cloth face coverings if staying at least six feet away from others is not possible, stay home when even mildly ill, and follow other hygienic guidelines.
