The Iowa high school baseball and softball seasons remain suspended at this point with no in-person contact of any kind between coaches and athletes. First year Greene County HS head baseball coach Matt Paulsen talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about two possible scenarios if there is a season. “They’re still working through specifics because things are so unknown. A couple of options the State has put out there is starting on June 1st, and the other would be a June 15 starting date.”
The coach talked about the June 1 possibility. “We’d be running a condensed schedule under this option with a week or so of practice, and then jumping into games as much as we can.”
Paulsen said if the June 15 starting date option is selected, it would mean likely only conference games would be played for the Rams.
The possibility also exists that neither a softball or baseball season would be held. The coach expects the Governor, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, to make announcements in the coming days. Raccoon Valley Radio and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com will bring you information as it becomes official.
