A pork processing company that contracts with producers in Iowa recently made a donation to the Greene County food pantry.

Seaboard Foods donated 400 pork loin fillets to the Greene County Action Resource Center in Jefferson. Seaboard was contacted by Churdan producer John McCormick and asked about the company making a donation. Community Relations Manager for Seaboard Foods David Watkins says they were happy to help out and have done so in the five-state region the company operates in.

Watkins says Seaboard has donated over 1,300 pork loin fillets and another 45,000 three-pound packages of cooked barbecue pork to the other states for their first responders and hospital staff, including Oklahoma and Texas panhandles, parts of Kansas, northeastern Colorado and seven counties in Iowa. Watkins adds, the goal with their COVID-19 response initiative was to help food pantries and individuals who are facing protein shortages due to the pandemic.
