The Guthrie County Veterans Affairs office is expanding their call to offer free firearm cable locks to the public.

VA Administrator Amy Davis has 100 cable locks that were donated for veterans to use to protect any firearms they may have at home. She says in talking with the donor, these locks are now being offered to any member of the public, whether or not they are a veteran or live in Guthrie County. Besides keeping firearms locked away from entering children’s or other vulnerable peoples’ hands, Davis says these locks could be used to protect other valuable items like bicycles. As the Guthrie County Courthouse is closed to the public at this time, Davis says to contact her office number listed outside the main entrance, and she will facilitate safely giving the locks to anyone interested. You can reach Davis at 641-747-2546 or adavis@guthriecounty.org.
