A taser was used to subdue a Jefferson man who was being non-compliant following a driving incident early Thursday morning.
According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer and a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call of a driving complaint at 1:38am through town. Law enforcement tried to stop a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in the 100 block of North Cedar Street for reckless driving. However the suspect, 32-year-old Steven Dzuris continued to disobey commands from law enforcement and stopped his vehicle multiple times, got out and then back in and continued to drive recklessly.
Finally, after Dzuris stopped his vehicle near the intersection of South Cedar and East Monroe streets, a deputy used a taser to subdue the suspect. After his arrest, Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio Dzuris continued to be non-compliant and it took three officers to put him in the back of a law enforcement vehicle and he was transported to the Greene County Jail.
Dzuris was charged with misdemeanors for eluding, interference with official acts, assault on persons in certain occupations, reckless driving and failure to obey a stop sign. Dzuris was booked and released from jail under his own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
