The Greene County Sheriff’s Office had a busy Thursday night responding to three separate vehicle crashes.
The first was reported at 4:42pm near the intersection of 140th Street and I Avenue. Twenty-seven-year-old Tianna Lowe of Jefferson was traveling west on 140th Street when she became distracted and her 2013 Hyundai Sonata crossed the centerline and hit a 2008 Lincoln MKX that was heading east on 140th Street and driven by 37-year-old Sara Vial of Pocahontas. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says both drivers suffered minor injuries, along with a third person, and all were transported to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance and Churdan Rescue. Williams adds, everyone was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and $10,000 of damage was done to the Sonata and the MKX was totaled. Lowe was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway.
The second incident was reported at 5:54pm on U Avenue near 160th Street. A 2003 Yamaha XT225 motorcycle that was driven by 76-year-old Jerry Erickson was traveling north on U Avenue when the front tire blew out causing him to slide the motorcycle on the road. Erickson suffered minors and was taken to the medical center by Greene County Ambulance. Grand Junction Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
The final incident was a single vehicle rollover crash on A Avenue at 7:17pm. Sheriff Williams says 42-year-old Jennifer Bailey of Coon Rapids was heading north on A Avenue when she lost control of her 2003 GMC Envoy as it hit the railroad tracks, causing the vehicle to roll into the east ditch. Williams notes as a deputy was arriving on scene, Bailey had already been transported by Carroll County Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll with minor injuries. The vehicle was determined to be a total loss.
