Seven positive cases of COVID-19 in an assisted living facility in Guthrie County have been confirmed Friday.
Guthrie County Public Health has identified the cases, which include both staff and residents at Lakeside Village in Panora. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, an outbreak is when three or more cases of COVID-19 are identified among residents of a facility. The facility has notified residents and their families and the affected residents are in isolation. The Lakeside Village leadership team is working closely with public health to protect the health of all residents and staff with additional testing. Public health also states they are continuing to work very closely in conjunction with the county emergency management agency with all of the county’s long-term and assisted living facilities, to provide guidance, personal protective equipment, medical resources, and training as needed.
There are currently 22 total cases of COVID-19 in Guthrie County, and a tracker on Guthrie and Adair counties’ cases can be found on their COVID-19 website, towards the bottom of their homepage. Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with Public Health Director Jotham Arber and Guthrie County Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Greg Opseth Friday afternoon about their current response to the pandemic.
