Though the Perry ShopKo store closed last year, that hasn’t stopped people from parking their cars in front of it, particularly those looking to sell the vehicles.

The Perry Police Department is putting a stop to that practice, at the request of the property owner. Effective immediately, anyone that has a vehicle or trailer parked in the former ShopKo parking lot will need to move it from the property as soon as possible. If they are not removed soon, the property owner may have them towed at the vehicle owner’s expense. People shopping at Hy-Vee will still be allowed to use the parking stalls closer to the vacant building, as this request is targeted at the vehicles loitering for extended periods in the lot.
