A vehicle that left the roadway resulted in damage to utility poles and other property in Guthrie Center Tuesday.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old Mark David Rutherford of Guthrie Center was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck west on Highway 44 east of Bluff Street at about 3:35 p.m. Rutherford suffered a medical emergency due to diabetes, passed out, and crossed the centerline leaving the roadway into the south ditch. The truck struck two mailboxes, a street sign, a small tree, a concrete well, and a utility pole which caused massive damage to several other poles and lines. The truck was considered totaled, and a total of $21,550 in property damage was estimated. Rutherford’s airbag deployed, and no injuries were reported.
