The inaugural event of a new but familiar program at Perry Lutheran Homes has been postponed indefinitely due to ongoing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project “Deliver the LOVE” was to take the place of Meals from the Heartland this year, with PLH residents and staff joining with community members to pack baskets full of food to be delivered to those in need. The event was originally scheduled for May 1st and was then moved back to June 3rd. However, with uncertainty still surrounding coronavirus, particularly its impact at long-term senior care facilities, the organizers felt it would be best to delay it until the virus is just a memory.

PLH Director of Charitable Giving Wanda Pritzel still encourages the public to volunteer for Project “Deliver the LOVE,” as they will need around 200 members of the community to make the program run effectively. Pritzel says people can sign up and then keep tabs on PLH social media or listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for confirmation of the new date. Volunteers will work one-hour shifts, and will either assemble the baskets or hand-deliver them around the area.
