The Iowa Department of Public Health announced 508 new positive tests of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, including 19 additional cases in Dallas County.

The statewide total is now up to 6,376, while in Dallas the number is up to 198. However, the IDPH emphasizes that 2,164 infected individuals have fully recovered, including 46 in Dallas County. There have also been 33,447 negative tests to date, and it’s reported that 1 in 79 Iowans have already been tested. Also announced Tuesday were nine more coronavirus-related deaths across the state, which included individuals in Black Hawk, Linn, Muscatine, Polk, and Story counties, each of whom was over 61-years old. There have been no virus-related deaths in Dallas County.

Additionally, with nearly 200 cases, Dallas is one of 22 counties in Iowa that will not have many of the COVID-19 social distancing restrictions lifted as of Friday. Residents and businesses in the County will have to wait until at least May 15th for Governor Kim Reynolds to loosen the guidelines, according to her proclamation Monday. The IDPH and the Governor’s Office are providing daily updates on the coronavirus situation, and Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to bring you the latest information affecting the listening area as it becomes official.
