As hundreds of protests have been held across the country against various shelter-in-place orders to stem the spread of COVID-19, Iowa’s Representative for State House District 20 comments on the issue.

Legislator Ray Sorensen (R) says Governors across the nation are tasked with a difficult problem to solve given the COVID-19 pandemic, but at the same time they are restricting citizens’ freedoms, “We’re kind of at a bit of a conundrum in that sense, I understand the Governor with her proclamations and what she’s trying to do to mitigate the spread and I also understand protesters and people wanting to see the end of this and fear that the cure is worse than the disease.”

Sorensen has not put out any immediate calls for Governor Kim Reynolds to waive her restrictions put on the state, though she is expected to lift more orders this week, after allowing elective surgeries and farmers markets to resume last week.
