A Bayard man was arrested for a felony domestic abuse incident Sunday.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at about 7:14 p.m. one of their deputies as well as a Stuart Police officer and an Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of a fight at a Menlo residence. The suspect, 55-year-old Jeffery John Godron had allegedly been in an altercation with two sons of the assault victim. Godron was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Guthrie County Hospital. The sons appeared uninjured and didn’t wish to pursue charges. The female victim appeared to have dried blood on her face and hands, a swollen and bruised face, abrasions on her hands and arms, and red marks near her neck.

In a verbal statement to the deputy, the victim stated she was assaulted while they were driving that evening from Stuart to Menlo. Law enforcement observed the vehicle they were driving had blood on the passenger side, and there were liquor bottles in the back. After Godron was released from the hospital he was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault impeding air flow causing injury, a class D felony, and driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was booked into the Guthrie County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
