As the final semester for the Panorama senior class has changed drastically due to COVID-19, an act of goodwill this week sought to cheer up their spirits and those of local businesses.
The entire senior class received an email this week notifying them that an anonymous donor had given them each $25 gift cards to local businesses Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts and the Lake Panorama Pizzeria. High School Principal Thad Stanley says for a class of about 55 people, that totals about $2,750 given for those students to use back towards their community. Stanley says the donor reached out to the District to make the offer, and the students just have to give their school identification number to each of the businesses to redeem their gift, “It just shows that our community is an awesome community, these seniors are going through some important events within their lives and our community members within all the communities and our school employees stepping up to the plate to make this situation special for our seniors and that they are not forgotten.”
The Panora Subway also felt in the giving spirit by giving the seniors each $5 gift cards. A Facebook group has also been formed to celebrate the Class of 2020 by letting the public “adopt a senior” to honor them with cards, treats, and more.
