The Perry School District is temporarily suspending its free lunch program and closing all school buildings, due to heightened COVID-19 concerns.
Perry Schools Superintendent Clark Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Grab and Go free lunch program is suspended for next week and all school buildings are closed effective immediately until further notice. He says once he heard about a potential for a community outbreak of COVID-19, he made the changes to be proactive to keep school district employees and the public safe. Wicks notes there is no COVID-19 outbreak within the district, but he heard about a potential outbreak in the community. Additionally, Wicks says there will be no resource packets handed out at the elementary school and no high school students will be allowed to clean out their lockers next week.
Wicks adds, they will reassess the issue for the following weeks. He appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding for making these temporary changes.
