The second round of grants through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) small business relief program have been given, with several coronavirus-impacted Dallas County small businesses receiving funds so far.

The first round, announced a few weeks ago, focused primarily on food and childcare services. The latest grants awarded support a wider selection of businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including retail, entertainment, and service. The grants range from $5,000-$25,000 for businesses having 2-25 employees. Perry recipients as of Friday include: Alice’s Haus Dresin for $10,000; Backwards Boutique for $20,000; Perry Grand 3 Theater for $15,000; Quality Auto and Body for $15,000; and Walter Aviation for $15,000. Grants so far to Adel businesses include: Adel Family Fun Center for $15,000; Adel Tire and Service for $11,000; Adel Vision Clinic for $16,000; Barnes’ Place for $16,800; BigDeal Car Care for $21,000; Greenslade Towing for $15,000; and Road Husky Trailer Company for $10,000. Other local grantees include Paws Inn in Dallas Center and Priebe Transport in Bouton for $25,000 each.

With two days of grants in the second phase in the books, 807 small businesses across the state have received $15.5 million. During the first phase, 1,271 businesses received $24 million, which locally included $20,000 to Ambros Roadhouse in DeSoto, $25,000 to the Little Tiger Learning Center in Adel, $13,236 to Lou’s Diner in Perry, $20,000 to Mandarin Cafe in Perry, and $25,000 to Patrick’s Restaurant in Adel.
