The Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association has been pushing for “Light Up Iowa” each Friday, as districts from across the state turn on the lights at their football, baseball, and softball fields to display unity and strength through this challenging time.

Dallas Center-Grimes has been participating in this event, as much as the district is capable.  This past Friday, DC-G lit up the football field in Grimes, but just one of the two diamonds in Dallas Center had the light switch flipped “On.”  The Fillies Softball Diamond was bright, but the Mustangs Baseball field was left in the dark.

The DC-G Baseball field stadium lights are currently under repair in preparation for season home opener set for just over a month from now, when the Mustangs and Fillies both host Ballard in a Baseball/Softball Doubleheader on May 25.

The DC-G Activities office tweeted about the Baseball Field lights being dark and had this to say about the situation, “I’ll take that if it means we play ball at home this season.”
