The need to fill vacancies on Guthrie County’s Civil Service Commission was discussed at the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.
Sheriff Marty Arganbright says two vacancies need to be filled, and explained that the Commission is required to meet at least annually, to hire deputies and be a resource for staff to communicate any issues within his office. Arganbright says his office hasn’t had any staffing changes in the last few years that required the Commission. Current members are Secretary Glenda Edwards, and Karen Sievers, and Arganbright stated he believed Sievers’ term had expired. Former Commission member Steve Brannon explained that for the three board members, two seats are filled at 2 and 6-year-terms by the Supervisors, with the third having a 4-year-term appointed by the County Attorney. Additionally, not all members can have the same political affiliation.
No action was taken by the Board regarding the issue. In other business, the Board approved service agreements for the courthouse elevator and health services building generator, a contract termination letter with Panora Telco, and meeting minutes from February 11 through March 24. Minutes from the February 4 and 6 meetings were tabled as they were not available from the County Auditor.
