Though the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is closed for the remainder of the school year, they’re still progressing on construction of the new elementary building in Adel.
One step has been turned into a fun way for the community to get involved with the project: the naming of the building. From now until May 1st, ADM parents, students, staff, community members, and alumni are invited to submit their suggestions for the name of the new school that will house grades 2-4. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says this is an exciting aspect of the project, as most in the District have grown tired of simply calling it “the new building.”
After the submission deadline, Dufoe says the community suggestions will be considered by a select committee. “We had developed a plan for (the) naming process that we have discussed with the Board, and we are moving ahead. There’ll be a small committee that will be assembled, and any committee work that’s done will just be done virtually. So we’re not slowing down the naming process for the new elementary, which we’re hoping to have a name available for the Board’s consideration this summer!”
