Student-athletes from AC/GC are continuing to surge despite the circumstances.
Traditional classroom schooling has been put on hold since early March due to the spread of Covid-19. As a result, activities and athletics have taken a hit as well. Outside of the first week of competition for track and field, spring sports in Iowa have been cancelled. With that said, AC/GC athletes have been continuing to out work the competition. The first week in April Rack Performance held a week-long contest encouraging athletes to continue to work out during this time of social distancing. The rules asked athletes to document workouts with a picture or video then post to social media using #RackSweat. Throughout the week AC/GC had nearly 250 submissions, which was more than any other school in the country. AC/GC Strength and Conditioning Coach Cody Mathewson tells Raccoon Valley Radio that using programs like this are a good way to keep kids accountable.
Despite the conclusion of the contest, Charger athletes are continuing to hold themselves accountable and documenting daily workout overseen by Mathewson.
