The Bock Family Foundation recently announced their spring 2020 grant recipients, and two of the 21 awards were given to the same organization.
Dallas County Conservation received separate grants for two projects. The first was $2,000, which will go towards funding the annual Prairie Awakening event in the fall. Last year was the first in the program’s history that was shortened due to weather, but the annual celebration has proven to draw large crowds over each of the last 21 years. The Bock funds will allow the free event to continue for a 22nd year.
The second grant was $5,000, which was for the “Let’s Connect” project. Phase two includes a mile-and-a-half stretch of bike trail west from Woodward, which is expected to be tackled this summer. The project will link the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Perry and the High Trestle Trail in Woodward, bridging the nine-mile gap between the two cities. Conservation has received several Bock grants towards the project since it was announced.
The $7,000 to Dallas County Conservation was part of the $50,580 awarded this cycle, with the Bock Foundation having now given over $2 million since its founding in 2002.
