Anyone looking to help those financially who may have been impacted by COVID-19 in Greene County, can do so in a couple of different ways.
Donations are accepted to the Salvation Army Fund through First United Methodist Church of Jefferson. This fund helps people up to $150 per year. Pastor Julie Poulsen says those wanting to donate to the Salvation Army can do so by contacting her at 515-386-4411 or her cellphone at 319-461-3146.
Another way for people to contribute financially to those impacted by COVID-19, such as being laid off from work is by donating to the Good Samaritan Fund. This fund is designed by the Greene County Clergy Association and it helps disadvantaged people in Greene County with up to $200 per year. Checks for this fund can be dropped off to Peoples Bank in Jefferson, earmarked for Good Samaritan Fund. Contact Pastor Poulsen or Teresa Lansman with New Opportunities of Greene County.
Donations to the Salvation Army Fund are tax deductible and Pastor Poulsen says both funds have been in existence prior to COVID-19, but at this time she and the rest of the clergy association understand times are tougher for most people and this is one way anyone can help those in need.
