The West Central Valley Wildcats spring sports team will unfortunately not have the opportunity to compete during the 2020 season due to the Coronavirus. The ISHAA and IGHSAU both made an announcement on Friday afternoon that there would be no spring sports for any high school teams in the state of Iowa. The announcement was made following the decision of governor Kim Reynolds on Friday morning that all schools will not open for the rest of the year.
This is tough for all coaches, athletes, and followers of these programs, and especially for seniors in track and field, golf, and soccer, who unfortunately will never get the opportunity again to compete again for those Wildcats teams. Some seniors still might have the opportunity to compete in baseball or softball, but obviously decisions on those will be made in the near future.
We will have more coverage of these seniors and teams in the next few weeks, but their will be no high school sports for any team across central Iowa.
