Wednesday, April 15th
7:20am: Shaylon Bonney reported an overnight Vehicle Burglary at 523 North Olive Street. Subjects removed property from the vehicle valued at $400.00. The officer is investigating.
12:56pm: A caller advised officers that a Wanted male subject from the Polk County area may be coming to Jefferson. The subject was not located.
3:12pm: An officer went to 202 West Adams Street and arrested James Alexander Pena, 22 of Jefferson on two outstanding Jefferson Police Department Arrest Warrants for, “Domestic Abuse Assault – Simple and Child Endangerment- Aggravated.”
3:35pm: A Jefferson resident reported they may have fallen for a Scam E-Mail from the IRS. She opened the e-mail and was taken to a screen requesting personal information. The caller filled the screen out with some information. They were concerned it is a scam. The officer advised the caller to notify her bank and to monitor her credit for inconsistencies.
6:03pm: An officer checked 402 North Pinet Street after dispatch received a 911 Hang Up Call. The officer learned a child was playing with the phone and no assistance was needed.
6:06pm: Chuck Foster reported the rear window had been broken out of his van while parked for the last couple days in the 300 Block of West State Street. The damage was estimated at $300.00. No evidence was located to show if it was an intentional act or accidental.
7:50pm: Melinda Madison reported Unwanted Contact via Face Book Messenger from a female. The officer is working to contact the female to end the contact and Madison blocked the subject’s access to her account.
Thursday, April 16th
5:10am: Officers assisted the GC Ambulance and Medical Examiner’s Office with a Death Scene in the 200 Block of East Washington Street.
10:56am: Jennifer Ashby requested officers at 108 East Central Avenue #66 for a Domestic Situation. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Jody Lyn Shad, 44 of Jefferson for, Disorderly Conduct – Fighting or Violent Behavior – Simple.”
1:24pm: A DHS Case Worker advised an officer of a possible Dependent Adult Care Investigation he was starting. The case worker will seek assistance from officers if needed.
4:28pm: The HyVee Drugstore requested a Welfare Check on a female at 1216 Westwood Drive after several failed attempts to make contact for a medication delivery. The officer was able to make contact with the subject, who was fine.
7:16pm: Bryant Margetta advised he was new to Jefferson and his dog had gotten loose from 305 North Chestnut Street. The officer located the animal near Vine and McKinley Streets and the owner came and retrieved the animal.
9:09pm: Matt Carlson reported Barking Dogs in the 1000 Block of Westwood Drive. The officer spoke to the animal’s owner, who will work on preventing the issue in the future.
11:16pm: Tim Hegstrom reported a raccoon on his porch at 621 South Wilson Ave. The officer arrived and was unable to locate the animal.
