A Greene County resident faces charges following an alleged party incident from earlier this month.
According to Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn, Riley Rittgers was arrested and charged with two simple misdemeanors for violation of the state’s social host ordinance and violation of the governor’s executive order. He was previously cited for providing alcohol to minors. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio, a warrant was issued and Rittgers was arrested at 7:55pm at his home at 236 Q Avenue.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation from Friday, April 3rd at 11:26pm when deputies responded to a call of a loud gathering at Rittgers’ property. At that time, over 40 people were cited for possession of alcohol underage, including seven that were 17 and younger and 34 18-20 year-olds. Williams says Rittgers is the only one facing the misdemeanor charge for violating the governor’s executive order of a social gathering of more than ten people, because the governor is stressing education of the restriction. Also, since Rittgers allegedly invited everyone who attended the party, he was the one that was charged. A reminder that the governor’s public health emergency proclamation prohits social gatherings of more than ten people, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Williams notes, their investigation is complete and no further charges are pending. Rittgers was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
