Dallas Center-Grimes Senior, Logan Smith, is hoping to play his final season as a Mustang on the diamond this summer.  The two-sport athlete just barely squeezed in his final basketball season, as Covid-19 restrictions were put in place just a week after the Mustangs dropped their substate final game versus Norwalk.

Now, Smith is hoping that he’ll get to play his final high school baseball season, before heading off to Brookings, South Dakota to play Division I Baseball as a Jackrabbit at South Dakota State University.

In his junior campaign, Smith started on the mound 12 times, finishing with a 8-2 record in 63 and 1/3 innings pitched.  Smith had an impressive ERA of 1.11, and opponents were hitting just .130 with Smith as the Mustang ace.

Smith also batted a .278, with 2 HR, and 20 RBI.

His future collegiate program posted a 28-22 record in 2019, and were 5-12 in 2020 before stoppage of athletic events was implemented by the NCAA a month ago.

Smith and the Mustangs are hopeful to play this summer.  DC-G is coming off of a 23-15 record in 2019, and is set to return most of its key pieces from last season.
