With the increased usage of area food pantries, one Jefferson-based business recently made a donation to help those in need during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Jefferson Telephone Company Charitable Trust donated $10,000 to the Greene County Action Resource Center. The ARC serves an average of 140 families per month, and now with COVID-19 impacting the county, several more individuals and families are using it. The donation from Jefferson Telecom will be used to purchase food and personal care items for those in need in the County. Food items will be purchased from the Iowa Food Bank, as well as locally from Fareway and Hy-Vee.

ARC Director Shirley Haupert appreciates the generous donation from Jefferson Telecom and says the donation helps to fill purchasing gaps such as meat and eggs that local families depend on. Jefferson Telecom General Manager Jamie Daubendiek says they understand that support is needed during the pandemic and the food pantry is an excellent resource during these times.
