The Adel City Council convened Tuesday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with a proclamation for Arbor Day, which will be Friday, April 24th. The Council then got a report from City Administrator Anthony Brown on the City’s operational changes and efforts regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Brown highlighted their coronavirus page on the City’s website, which is updated frequently. In new business, they set the time and date for three public hearings. The first will be on water, sanitary sewer, and storm water rate increases, the second on a proposed connection fee ordinance for the east annex sewer district, and the last on fiscal year 2020 budget amendments. Each hearing was set for Tuesday, May 12th, during the regular Council meeting at 6 p.m.

Other items approved included a purchase order for replacement pumps at the lift station which will cost $98,828, and resolutions regarding the Highway 6 corridor access management plan. There will not be a second Council meeting in April, and the regular session on May 12th will be held in person at the Adel Public Library, as well as electronically if social distancing guidelines are still in effect.
