There are now four positive cases of novel coronavirus 2019 in Guthrie County, as mentioned at the County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.

Public Health Director Jotham Arber updated the Board, stating that while state public health statistics have so far confirmed only one positive case, he affirmed that Guthrie County has had four COVID-19 cases test positive so far. Arber stated he expects the number to increase in the next couple weeks, and that his department and community partners plan to mitigate that as much as possible.

Public Health along with Guthrie County Hospital and Guthrie County Emergency Management also released a statement Tuesday expressing that it is vital for all Guthrie County residents to adopt the mindset that the virus is everywhere and that residents should leave their home only when absolutely necessary, such as to the pharmacy or the hospital.

On a brighter note, the local partners continue to prepare daily, and have surge plans to help guide the care of patients in volumes the County would not normally experience. They state that the teamwork and collaboration they continue to see daily is awe-inspiring and something of which all County residents should be proud. The County is also continually monitoring their Personal Protective Equipment supply, and are overwhelmed by the generosity from local communities in donating homemade masks and other items.
