The Greene County Sheriff’s Office cited over 50 people from a weekend party.
Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio he and some deputies, along with the Gowrie Police Department responded to calls of a loud gathering at 11:26pm Friday, April 3rd 236 Q Avenue. Williams says 34 18-20 year-olds were cited for possession of alcohol underage, and seven that were ages 17 and younger were also cited for possession of alcohol underage and were transported to the law enforcement center in Jefferson and released to their parents. Additionally, the property owner, Riley Rittgers who is over 21, was cited for providing alcohol to minors.
Williams notes 18-year-old Levi Hollingshead of Boone was arrested because he was being non-compliant and there were nine others 21 and older who were not cited because law enforcement couldn’t prove they were providing alcohol to minors. Williams adds, pending completion of the investigation, additional charges may be filed.
Williams reminds everyone the governor’s public health emergency proclamation prevents social gatherings of more than ten people, and individuals must be at least six feet a part.
