The two victims of a fatal helicopter crash that occurred in Audubon County last month have been identified.

At about 4:30 p.m. March 31st the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management Agency assisted the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office in responding to the crash near 240th Street and Robin Avenue. Upon arrival, the helicopter and area surrounding it was on fire caused by a downed power line in the crash. Authorities previously mentioned that both victims had Minnesota addresses. The victims included pilot 30-year-old Ryan Doolittle of Minneapolis, and passenger 23-year-old Benjamin Peterson of Marshall, Minnesota.

Other agencies who responded to the crash were Audubon County Emergency Management Agency, Audubon Fire & Rescue, Exira Fire Department, Audubon County Secondary Roads Department, and Iowa State Patrol. The incident remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
