The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met remotely Tuesday morning for a regular session.
The meeting began with the decision to postpone a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday evening regarding the vacation of a portion of County Road R-16. In order to allow more people to potentially be there in person, the Board delayed the hearing to April 28th at 6 p.m. The first action items involved the Human Resources Department, starting with approval of payroll change notices as presented. The Supervisors then approved a letter template for essential employees in case Governor Kim Reynolds issues a shelter in place order for the COVID-19 pandemic. They also approved temporary amendments to the employee policy manual, specifically related to paid days if offices close or there is a lack of work.
At 10 a.m., the Board began a public hearing regarding the five-year road construction plan. However, at the recommendation of County Engineer Al Miller, they continued the hearing to next week so the County could ensure the public can see the plan instead of just listening to them talk about it. Other items approved included: a pay application of $38,000 to Cover’s Construction, as well as a change order for $5,805 for the DMACC classroom project at the Human Services Campus; a pay application of $86,302.43 to Harney Commercial Services for the building renovation at 910 Court Street in Adel; a wetland credit allocation of 1.29 acres to the City of West Des Moines; and a DR hardware purchase agreement in the amount of $154,884.83 with IP Pathways for the Information Technology Department.
The Board also gave consensus to seek bids to remove trees adjacent to property at 1131 Prairie Street in Adel, and discussed precinct operations for the June 2nd primary election.
