Tyson Fresh Meats is partnering with Crossroads Church in Perry to help feed the community.

Tomorrow, Tyson will be giving away free chicken to anyone who would like some, no questions asked. A semi truck from the local plant will be on hand in the morning to distribute chicken to specified groups and organizations. At 2 p.m., the public is invited to come to the Crossroads Church parking lot north of Perry to get theirs. Organizers are asking people to not arrive before 1 p.m. so they can finish the group distribution and allow volunteers to get into place. The operation will be a drive-through, similar to the recent mobile food pantry service. Volunteers will place the food in the vehicles, so people don’t have to get out.

The chicken will be first-come, first-served, but it will be limited to one package per family. Tyson and Crossroads hope the free chicken will help people struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic put a meal on the table.
