To say this spring sports season has been a challenge, would be putting it mildly.
Some teams barely just started official, and organzied practices, some didn’t even get started before Covid-19 struck Iowa hard, and put the country on hold.
Dallas Center-Grimes Activities Director, Brent Buttjer had this to say regarding the current situation and pandemic crippling the nation.
“We are really just in a holding pattern right now for spring and summer activities. Coaches and AD’s always are hoping for the best but preparing for the challenges that lie ahead. We want to be prepared for a modified season and then of course the unfortunate possibility of no season. Our coaches are in communication with their kids. They are providing opportunities for them to train at home but I also feel they are keeping the situation in perspective and are placing value on slowing down and keeping in mind the things that truly matter such as family. Most of us don’t intentionally take the time to take care of the little things in life. All we have right now is time which is allowing the little things to get done. A lesson perhaps from a higher power?”
As of now, school is set to be back in session on April 13.
