As in-person storm spotter training sessions were canceled this season due to COVID-19 precautions, the National Weather Service Des Moines Office is hosting a series of virtual training sessions for those who’d like to brush up on their severe weather knowledge.
Four meetings have been scheduled from April 2nd to April 13th, and registration is required to be able to attend. For more information on the meetings and how to register, visit here. Whenever a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for Dallas, Greene, or Guthrie counties, the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team, including its trained weather spotters, brings live coverage of the storm.
